Day-By-Day Program:

 

Day 01:     TUE    Arrive St. Petersburg, Russia's Cultural Capital    

Arrive in St. Petersburg, transfer to the Sokos Vasilevsky Hotel **** (or similar). Check-in at the hotel for a 3 nights' stay 

 

Day 02:     WED     In St. Petersburg, Sightseeing

Today you will start your love affair with this enchanting city on the Neva river, built to the passion of its founder, Russia's Emperor Peter the First. Your panoramic City tour will introduce you to the views of the many famous landmarks from both sides of the Neva River, including the world famous Nevsky Prospect, historical Palace Square surrounded by the Winter Palace and other buildings that today make up a massive complex of the State Hermitage Museum, St Isaac's cathedral, the Admiralty, the Church on the Spilled Blood, the Spit of Basil's Island, Rostral Columns.
Your sightseeing today will also include a visit inside the historical Peter-and-Paul Fortress, where many of the Russian Romanov dynasty rulers lie buried. 

Today you will also be offered an optional tour outside of St. Petersburg to suburban Pushkin to visit the exquisite Catherine's Palace with its famous Amber Room.  

For tonight you will be offered an optional visit to the Folklore show at Nikolaevsky Palace 

 

Day 03:     THU     In St. Petersburg, full day for independent activities or optional tours
A full day is open for optional visits or independent activities. Today you will be offered an optional trip outside of St. Petersburg to Peterhof, on the Gulf of Finland, to visit the magnificent summer residence of the Russian czars of the 19th c. Designed to the specifications of Peter the Great to rival Versailles, this remarkable palace defies imagination. 

You will also be offered an optional tour of the world famous Hermitage Museum featuring the State Rooms of the Winter Palace, the Old Masters of the West European art collection and the French impressionists

  

Day 04:     FRI      St. Petersburg - High Speed Train - Moscow
Breakfast at hotel and some free time for last minute activities in St. Petersburg. Check-out from the hotel and get transferred to rail station for your High Speed train to Moscow (a 4-hour journey). Your travel by rail is during day time so that you have a chance to watch the passing scenery along your way.

Arrive in St. Petersburg same day and get transferred to your hotel for your central Park Inn Sadu Hotel **** (or similar) 

    

Day 05:     SAT     Moscow, sightseeing

Welcome to Russia's capital Moscow. This city of over 870 years old. It is a city of tremendous power and energy. History and culture. 

Your panoramic City tour of Moscow will introduce you with the beautiful views of Moscow including the historic Red Square with its iconic multi-domed St. Basil's Cathedral, Kremlin walls, Lenin's Tomb, trading rows of the GUM department store, renovated Bolshoi theatre. Drive along the stylish Tverskaya Street, city's main street for centuries. You will also be taken to the Sparrow Hills to have a look at the impressive building of the State Moscow University and to enjoy the breathtaking view of the city from the observation platform, with Luzhniki Olympic Sports complex, scenic Moskva river curve, New Maiden's Convent right in front of your eyes.

Today you will also be exploring the Kremlin Grounds behind the mysterious Kremlin walls and will visit inside one of the historical cathedrals.

Today you will also be offered an optional tour of the Moscow Metro stations. For later hours tonight you might choose to join Moscow-by-night tour 

 

Day 06:     SUN     Moscow - train - Kazan

Most of today is left for independent activities before you are transferred to rail station to your overnight sleeper train to Kazan, a 2-berth sleeping compartment for two share basis

  

Day 07:     MON     Arrive Kazan & sightseeing  

Morning arrive in Kazan, the capital of the autonomous republic of Tatarstan, on the banks of the mighty Volga River, where Christianity and Islam have coexisted peacefully throughout the centuries. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the Park Inn Kazan Hotel **** (or similar) where breakfast is served.

Today you will be offered a sightseeing tour of Kazan to explore Kazan's rich past and takes you to the old Tatar quarter, where you visit the city oldest stone mosque and UNESCO-listed Kazan Kremlin, a stone fortress of the 16th c. with a perfect panoramic view. You will also visit the Kul Sharif Mosque, one the largest in Europe, as well as the catholic Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross   

 

Day 08:     TUE     A Full day for Independent activities and Optional tours 

This morning offers an optional visit to the Admiralteyskaya Quarter and the Raifa Monastery. The monastery located on the bank of a beautiful lake and surrounded by virgin forests is one of the most beautiful sites in Tatarstan. The monastery has an intriguing history dating back to the 17th century and it is still a functioning monastery today.

In the afternoon an optional visit is offered to Iske-Kazan (Old Kazan), a fascinating open-air museum located where the capital of the medieval Khanate of Kazan once stood. We visit the museum dominated by a modern reconstruction of a large wooden fortress from the times of the khanate

 

Day 09:     WED     Optional trip to Sviyazhsk (UNESCO Site) outside of Kazan 

This morning an optional visit to Sviyazhsk, the most recent UNESCO-protected site (2017). This scenic little town located one hour drive from Kazan at the confluence of the Volga and Sviyaga Rivers has served as a fortress and military base since the 16th century. We visit the Holy Domitian Monastery of Sviyazhsk and the Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh, enjoy the magnificent panoramic views of the town and the rivers before returning to Kazan. In the evening an optional national cuisine dinner is offered at Tatar Cuisine House restaurant

 

Day 10:     THU     Depart Kazan      See You Again

After breakfast your tour ends. Individual transfer to airport for your flight home
